ARM NSWGR C38 Class 3801 – DCC Sound, Headlight & Extras

A$799.99

Available now is this ARM NSWGR C38 Class 3801, fitted with DCC sound and headlight, making it a standout model of one of Australia’s most famous steam locomotives. The sound and headlight were fitted by Train World, Melbourne, adding extra appeal for both operators and collectors.

This model also comes with a great selection of extras, including a Ctrl P bogies kit, Train Girl headboard, SJM brass loco numbers, and a Ballantyne Designs 38 detailing kit, giving the buyer additional value and scope for further detailing or customisation.

The ARM 38 class is a highly impressive model, featuring a detailed cab interior including floating footplate, separately applied body detail parts, accurately reproduced motion mechanisms, realistic mechanical mechanisms, authentic knuckle-style couplers, and a dual position drawbar for close tender coupling.

The prototype 3801 is one of the most iconic steam locomotives in New South Wales history. The first of the 38 class entered service in January 1943, with 3801 first working a Newcastle Flyer service in February 1943. By November 1947, all Newcastle Express services were operated by 38 class locomotives, with the class becoming synonymous with premier steam-hauled express travel in New South Wales. The Newcastle Flyer would go on to be remembered as the last express train in Australia to be worked by steam locomotives, ending on 29 December 1970.

A fantastic model of a legendary locomotive, made even more appealing with sound, lighting, and included detailing extras.
