Available now is this Auscision C506 in V/Line orange and grey, a highly detailed model of one of Victoria’s most recognisable mainline diesel locomotives. This version features bifurcation of pilot hoses, semi-permanent MU cables, modified windscreens, air-conditioning, and modified nose handrails, making it a particularly appealing example for modellers of later-era Victorian operations.

This model is in great condition, has been weathered for a realistic in-service appearance, and comes in its original packaging.

Auscision’s C class models are regarded as some of the most accurate and detailed available, and this example is no exception. It features a ready-to-run ABS plastic body, heavy diecast chassis, blackened metal disc wheels (RP25-110), scale-sized metal knuckle couplers, a highly detailed underframe, and separately applied metal parts throughout. Additional detailing includes brass horns, metal and plastic handrails and brake piping, highly detailed bogies with separately applied parts, metal etched mirrors and windscreen wipers, see-through metal etched grilles, and a detailed cab with driver figures.

Mechanically, the locomotive is fitted with a 5-pole skew wound motor with twin brass flywheels, along with all wheel drive and electrical pickup for smooth and reliable running. It is suitable for operation on Code 70, 83 and 100 rail, with an 18-inch recommended minimum radius.

Lighting functions include operating LED headlights, number box lights, marker lights and ditch lights, all with a manual override switch. Please note that ditch lights are only fitted to some versions.

This model is DCC sound equipped and features an ESU LokSound 5 21-pin decoder, paired with an Auscision Vandersound twin-speaker enclosure for strong sound performance. Sound functions include prototypical EMD 16-645E3 engine sounds with start-up, shutdown, idle and running sequences, as well as dynamic brakes, Leslie Supertyfon S5T and Nathan P5 air horns in both short and long tones, brake squeal, coupler release and crash sounds, and handbrake applied and released effects.
