Auscision GY4392 – Victorian Railways GY Open Wagon (HO Scale)

A$39.99

Tarpaulin Covered | Weathered | Unboxed

This Auscision GY4392 represents a Victorian Railways GY open wagon, fitted with a tarpaulin cover and weathered to give the model a realistic in-service appearance.

The wagon is in good condition and comes unboxed.

GY wagons were among the most common wagons on the Victorian Railways network and were used extensively for general freight, bulk goods, agricultural produce, and industrial materials. When required, loads were protected from the weather using tarpaulins secured over the wagon body.

Prototype Background

The GY class open wagons formed the backbone of the Victorian Railways open wagon fleet for many decades. Developed from earlier wagon types, these wagons became a standard vehicle for carrying bulk and general freight across the VR network.

They were extremely versatile and could be seen transporting coal, timber, bagged grain, machinery, and other goods across both branch lines and mainline freight services.

Tarpaulin-covered loads were common when goods required weather protection, giving wagons a distinctive appearance in service.
