Prototype Background

During the Victorian Railways era, a small number of wagons carried commercial advertising liveries promoting companies whose goods travelled by rail.

These wagons operated within general freight consists, standing out amongst the standard wagon red fleet with bold graphics and branding.

The McNamara’s Trenchards advertising wagon is one of the more recognisable examples and reflects a period when freight wagons were occasionally used as moving advertisements across the VR network.
