Melbourne Tram Money Box 'City Circle W-Class 856' (Maroon Livery)

A$11.99

The Collectable Melbourne Tram Tin Money Box – City Circle W-Class celebrates one of Melbourne’s most recognisable transport icons: the W-class tram in its distinctive City Circle maroon livery.

Built by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB) between 1923 and 1956, the W-class trams became the backbone of Melbourne’s tram network. Over 33 years of production, a total of 752 trams across 12 sub-classes were constructed. Renowned for their classic design and robust construction, the W-class has become a lasting symbol of Melbourne’s transport heritage.

A small fleet of W-class trams continues to operate today on the City Circle tourist route (Route 35) and the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, preserving their place in everyday Melbourne life. Their cultural significance is recognised by the National Trust of Australia, with the remaining trams classified as heritage icons.

Made from durable tin and styled after the classic W-class tram measuing 29cm with a removable top, and small wheels under the tin, this money box is perfect for tram enthusiasts, Melbourne collectors, transport history fans, and gift buyers alike.

A great keepsake celebrating Melbourne’s tramway heritage.
