PECO OO9 Ffestiniog Railway ‘Bug Box’ Observation Coach ‘Zoo Car’ – Victorian Plum & Cream – GR-560
PECO OO9 Ffestiniog Railway ‘Bug Box’ Observation Coach ‘Zoo Car’ – Victorian Plum & Cream – GR-560
Add a distinctive piece of early Welsh narrow-gauge railway history to your layout with the PECO OO9 Ffestiniog Railway ‘Bug Box’ Observation Coach, finished in the ornate Victorian plum and cream livery.
The original four-wheeled coaches were built by Brown, Marshall & Co. of Birmingham for the Ffestiniog Railway during the 1860s. Officially known as the Small Birmingham coaches, they later became widely known as Bug Boxes because of their compact dimensions. The open third-class observation vehicles were also nicknamed Zoo Cars due to their low-sided, open passenger compartments.
PECO’s model accurately captures the unusual open-sided body, compact four-wheel chassis and finely printed Victorian livery. The plum and cream colour scheme makes it ideal for recreating the Ffestiniog Railway’s historic Victorian passenger train or adding an eye-catching coach to a preserved narrow-gauge layout.
Produced in OO9 scale for operation on 9 mm gauge track, the coach measures approximately 45 mm over the buffers. It is suitable for use with PECO’s other Ffestiniog Railway Bug Box coaches and compatible OO9 locomotives.
