Product Description
These distinctive 4-wheel “Bug Box” coaches were originally built in 1864 by Brown, Marshall & Co. of Birmingham for the Ffestiniog Railway. Officially known as the Small Birminghams, they are more affectionately referred to as Bug Boxes due to their compact size.
This model represents the Zoo Car finished in its original Victorian livery, faithfully reproduced by PECO with direct consultation from the experts who maintain and restore the full-size vehicles on the Ffestiniog Railway. Care has been taken to match the correct paint shades and to include accurate detail differences, such as oil lamp vents on the roof and the reduced number of windows on the third-class variant.
Today, the Bug Boxes continue to operate during special events on both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, forming part of the authentic Victorian train.
