Prototype Background
This group of tank wagons arrived in Victoria in 1992, transferred from New South Wales via South Australia.
Originally built by Tulloch Ltd between 1947 and 1951 for C.O.R / BP Australia, these wagons retained several NSW design features, including their unique handbrake arrangement.
Once in Victoria, they were modified with VR-style end shunters steps and handrails, creating a distinctive hybrid appearance rarely seen on Victorian rollingstock.
These wagons typically operated in fuel and oil traffic, making them a standout vehicle in mixed and dedicated freight consists.
