Oxford Diecast 76K2003 OO Austin K2 Ambulance – National Coal Board
Oxford Diecast 76K2003 OO Austin K2 Ambulance – National Coal Board
Add a distinctive post-war service vehicle to your OO scale layout with the Oxford Diecast Austin K2 Ambulance in National Coal Board livery.
The Austin K2 Ambulance was originally built during the Second World War, with production taking place between 1939 and 1945 at Austin’s Longbridge plant. Around 13,000 were produced, primarily for military use by British, Allied and United States forces. After the war, many K2 ambulances entered civilian service, where they became affectionately known as “Katy”.
This 1:76 scale Oxford Diecast model represents an early Austin K2 Ambulance with round roof ventilators. Finished in the dark blue and black livery of the National Coal Board, the vehicle would have likely been used in connection with mining emergencies, accidents and rescue work.
The model features a dark blue body, black wings and mudguards, silver-highlighted radiator grille, black interior, midnight blue roll-back canvas-style doors and cream National Coal Board lettering. It is registered SMD 947 and includes Ambulance lettering above the windscreen.
