This beautifully detailed Duple Britannia coach from Oxford Diecast is finished in the classic livery of Wallace Arnold, whose coach tours were hugely popular in the era before affordable package holidays.

The Duple Britannia, first introduced in the mid-1950s, followed on from the Elizabethan design, featuring an underfloor-engined chassis with revised vertical body pillars. It was produced during the period when Duple operated as Duple Motor Buses (Midland) Ltd, following the company’s decentralisation to the Midlands. Duple’s long history stretched from its founding in London in 1919 through to its closure in 1989.

Wallace Arnold’s own story began in 1912 and, from its Leeds headquarters, the company grew into one of the UK’s most successful coach tour operators. During the 1970s it even expanded into European travel under the Euroways brand, before later mergers eventually saw the Wallace Arnold name retired in 2007.

This 1:76 scale model represents coach 4324 UA, operating a service to Blackpool. It wears Wallace Arnold’s elegant cream livery with orange-masked roof skylights, complemented by extensive silver detailing including bumpers, window surrounds, and radiator trim. The flat-fronted coach features a two-window passenger door on the nearside and a higher-set driver’s door on the offside.

The interior is equally well detailed, with red seating, a beige floor, and accurate driver’s area. Finishing touches include the Britannia name in silver beneath the split windscreen, the Duple name etched along the radiator, Wallace Arnold branding and destinations on the rear, and the WA crest with the Latin motto Industriae Nil Impossible printed in gold along the sides.
